#Winning Wreath

You know me. I'm always looking for something to snazz up the place. Okay, that's totally not true.

Last November, something funny happened. I was intent on designing a Fall wreath. As I was scouring the internet for ideas, and it became apparent that I needed a hot glue gun. I ran to Michael's, grabbed a cheap hgg, stuck it in my purse (I hate using plastic bags when unnecessary), and went on my merry way. Two hours later, I got stopped while going through the State Capitol's security because there was a "suspicious looking item" in my purse. The humor in this story doesn't really lie around the fact I was stopped by Capitol Security; it instead circles around the fact that I was going to make something for my home. Craftiness wasn't my bag.

And here I am, just a few months later, and I've done a million projects for my house. Remember the Heart Wreath? Or the headboard (I'll get some pictures up of the final result this week)? When I saw a wreath made of old book pages from Under the Table and Dreaming, I knew it was something I needed to try. And so it was...

First, I started with an old book and a circle cutter. After I got the stacks (and stacks. and stacks.) of circles, I thin did the cinnamon roll effect by cutting a small strip all the way around until I finished with a small tab in the middle.
After that, I started rolling the strips from the outside toward the middle and ended up with a ton of rosettes.

After I finished it, I knew where it would end up! Above the new headboard! But once I got it up there, it just looked so... plain.

So I took a page from the original design and added the ribbon. Ta da!
